In addition to standard alerts, which can be customized with the Programming Language, there are also graphical alerts.
A graphical alert is a trendline object or an horizontal line to which an alert has been added.
A graphical alert can be used to give a warning when a support, resistance or tradeline are being broken.
To attach an alert to an object, follow these steps:
-
Select the object, press the right hand mouse button, to visualize the pop up menu.
-
Select the menu entry Attach alert to this object
-
A window will be shown where to specify the following properties:
Signal: is the type of signal the alert will monitor (long, short, exit long, exit short)
Value: is the value monitored by the condition to trigger the alert (it can be the open value, high, low, close if the object is on the price chart or an indicator value if the object belong to an indicator)
Condition: when the condition is met, the alert will trigger off.
Example:
To see an example, we suppose the following: the property Signal is "Enter Long", the property Value is "Close" and the property Condition is "greater than the object value"
The graphical alert will trigger off and will give a buy signal when the Close of the last available period on the chart is greater than the object value.
-
Press the OK button to confirm the modification and activate the alert.
The presence of an alert attached to the object is shown with the symbol of a green bell near the right end of the object itself. When the alert has gone off, the bell change color to red.
In addition, the triggered alert, will be shown on the form Quick alerts Window if the alarm has gone off during the opening of a chart, or when updating End of Day data. On the hand if the alert went off while receiving real time data, it will be added to the form Real Time alerts Window.
