Description:
A workgroup can be seen as an environment containing a number of charts. These charts can be opened (visible on screen) or closed (in stand-by)
The program keeps track of all opened charts in the workgroup. Next time the workgroup is accessed, charts are automatically opened in the same position and with the same parameters of last time they where used.
A workgroup is then a "space" containing open charts (visible on screen), and/or closed charts. Next time closed charts (if they had been opened and studied before) are accessed they maintain the same studies, indicators, trading systems etc. of when they were last closed. Unless, of course, when closing the charts, the user decides to remove them from the workgroup. In this case all studies are permanently removed.
Another characteristic of a workgroup is the possibility to open more than once the same chart, in the same workgroup. This functionality is very useful to the user who wishes to study the same data with different compressions or with different indicators, or with various trading systems, and in any other different situations.
It is possible to define an "infinite" number of workgroups, and there is no logical limit to the number of charts they can contain. Besides, it is not necessary that the data are all of the same type. In fact, the same workgroup can contain charts with the data in any of the supported formats. Currently metastock and insider data format (.idf).
It is not necessary that the data be in the same folder or disk. Not even are they required to have the same time base. (It is possible to have in the same workgroup, intraday data, mixed with end of day or weekly data etc.)
A workgroup is a set of securities which the user keeps an eye on, independently from their format, time base, and location on the user hard disk.
Use:
The first thing to do in order to start working with the program is to create a workgroup. When the program is opened for the first time, the user is prompted with this request.
Once the workgroup has been created, the user is offered the possibility to search automatically for existing data in all data folders on the local disks. If the user decides at this time, not to use this feature, it can be run at any time from the Explore windows.
As said before, there is no limit to the number of workgroups that can be created. There are two alternatives:
-
Click on the link "New group" on the bottom left of the main program window. A new window will open where it is possible to enter the name of the new workgroup. Pressing the button "OK" a new "TAB" is added at the bottom of the main program window, together with the existing workgroup.
-
Access the "WorkGroups Management" window from which it is possible to delete a workgroup (unless is the current one), create a new one, or add and remove charts.
There are several ways to access the WorkGroups Management" window:
-
From the File menu, on the main program window:
From the vertical menu on the left, it is possible to create, copy, and remove WorkGroups:
